Apr 21, 2015 Asteroid just missed Earth on Tuesday(about 3am EDT). It came close. 2015 HD1 passed just 0.2 lunar distances away (45,600 miles or 73,400 km).  That's about twice as far as geostationary satellites. The Mt. Lemmon Survey, based in Tucson, Arizona, first saw this asteroid three days ago, on Saturday, April 18.
